MOBILE MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE UNIT (MMSU)

World Health Organization has declared Covid-19 as an epidemic. In India the first case of Covid-19 has been reported at Kerala on January 2020. Government of Kerala has made wide range of arrangement to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in wake of the spread of the epidemic. Although 27 Mobile Medical surveillance Units has been deployed by Government of Kerala was has decided to deploy 17 more Mobile medical Surveillance units. The distribution of the units along the districts of Kerala is given as below.

The main aim of these units is to cater the medical needs of the patients in Quarantine. These vehicles are working in concurrence with telemedicine link.  These vehicles aims at the treatment of the of patients with ordinary diseases, long ailments, preventive measures, first aid ,referral services, family planning, care before and after delivery, disease control, Implementing National health mission programmes, health educational programmes, lab test, all kind of chronic disease diagnosis treatment and sample collection.

For the department of Health National Health Mission is implementing the project through Kerala medical Services Corporation. The inauguration of the Mobile Medical Surveillance Unit has been done by  Hon’ble Minister for Health Smt KK Shylaja on 03.09.2020 at Thiruvananthapuram.
